Structuring Your Business

Contino Law loves to partner with startups and growing businesses. One of the exciting things about this phase is designing your business to work as efficiently and seamlessly as possible. As you develop your business plan, one of your first legal decisions is to choose an entity type.

In the old days, there were just corporations and sole proprietorships. Now, there are more options to suit the nature your business.

The LLC, or limited liability company is a fairly simple option for most businesses, which has the benefit of limited liability without many of a corporation.

Vermont has also recently added the L3C, or Low-Profit Limited Liability Company, as an option, which gives your business more fundraising opportunities if it has a charitable or educational mission.
